2007 Winner: Ally Legregin
Ally Legregin, winner of the 2007 Cantigas Young Women’s Vocal Competition, was a sophomore at Montclair Kimberley Academy. Ally participated in Action Theatre Conservatory’s Teen NYC Showcases in 2004 and 2005, and was a student and frequent vocal soloist at Broadway Bound Theatrical and Dance Center. Ally appeared this year in her school’s production of Cabaret and last year in Little Shop of Horrors. She was accepted three years in a row into NJPAC’s Young Artist Institute for vocal training program and is a member of her school’s select choir, The Mastersingers.
2006 Winner: Madeline Stern
Madeline Stern, Soprano, won the competition at the age of thirteen. She had played numerous roles in various school and summer camp musicals including Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast," Mrs. Banks in "Mary Poppins" and the Narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Madeline's parents both work in the theatre, her mother a general manager and her father a conductor/arranger. She lives in Manhattan where she attends the LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts.
